Interesting Facts about Presidents of the United States : Part 2

From presidential firsts to eerie coincidences, the tales of these leaders are as colorful as the country they served. Here is part 2 of our snippets from the presidential past!

Transcript:  Back again to spice up your presidential trivia. Let’s roll into more astonishing facts about America’s leaders. Kicking off with Martin Van Buren, the eighth president, who was the first truly American president, born after the colonies declared independence.

Unlike his seven predecessors, Van Buren was not a British subject at birth, making him the first president born under the red, white, and blue. Next up, William Howard Taft, not just known for his size but also for his presidential firsts. Taft was the first president to throw the ceremonial first pitch at a major league baseball game, establishing a tradition that combines the chief office with America’s favorite pastime.

Ending on a historical high note, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, the second and third presidents respectively, shared more than just office timelines. These founding fathers both died on July 4th, 1826, exactly 50 years to the day after the Declaration of Independence, marking a poignant moment in U. S. history.
