Warren Harding, our 29th president, had a penchant for poker and wasn’t afraid to raise the stakes. In a bold yet questionable move during one of his bi weekly poker games, Harding wagered and lost a set of White House china from President Benjamin Harrison’s era.

Talk about a high stakes game. James Garfield, the 20th president, wasn’t just skilled in politics, but in linguistics, too. Ambidextrous and exceptionally talented, Garfield could write in Latin with one hand and Greek with the other, simultaneously. Before his presidency He showcased this unique skill while teaching at Williams College in Massachusetts.

Adding to Garfield’s intriguing legacy, in 2000 his spine is displayed at the National Museum of Health and Medicine in Washington, D. C. The exhibit not only showcases Garfield’s spine, but also the fatal bullet hole from his 1881 assassination, a chilling yet fascinating glimpse into medical history.
